The other night, the movie was on television, but I only caught the last 30 minutes. Then the next night, I couldn't sleep, so I got the book off the shelf and started reading. And as I read, Bogart's voice flowed so naturally from Spade's mouth, you'd think Hammett wrote the part specifically for him. Same for Peter Lorre as Joel Cairo.
It's just scary.
